Since 1966, The Villagers have dedicated their time and energy to preserving the unique history of Dade County. Over the years, we have used various fund-raising tools to finance historic preservation projects and scholarships. This is only our second cookbook in twenty years.

Cook It Like A Native pays tribute to the rich history of our community and includes the following unique features:

  • Fascinating and uncommon stories of some of the famous (and infamous) pioneers who helped shape our community, each written by a local historian or author
  • 32 full page color photographs of historic sites around Dade County, magnificently captured by internationally acclaimed photographer Robin Hill
  • Lulu & Petunia Photography styled beautiful shots of a sampling of our special quilts
  • Spiral bound under the cover so it can easily lay open while you cook
  • Several recipes from early Dade County pioneers generously provided by their families
  • A special Made With Love chapter featuring our famous breads and chutneys
  • Many recipes geared to entertaining throughout the cookbook, especially in the chapter Crowd Pleasers
  • Eclectic mix of family favorites, and other tried-and-true recipes offered with an eye on simplicity, and the belief that we should be with our guests and not in the kitchen

The Villagers invite you to explore our fascinating history, cook our favorites, and join us in toasting our past and our future.
